Las Vegas is the home to every {insert category here} gathering. It seems like at one point or another, locals will get infused with subcultures tourists bring in. Let’s face it, EVERYONE wants/needs an excuse to come to Vegas. However what I am most excited about are the events involving food. If I am to be shoved around in a sea of people, there has better be a good incentive! The San Gennaro Feast is an event I do not mind fighting for. What is it? An Italian food paradise. There are vendors who serve the best sausages, lasagna, cannolis, zeppole’s and other things I can’t pronounce. There are also carnival rides and games inside the festival to distract you from how much food you are consuming. The price is right , $9 for an Adult or $14 for 3 Adults if you print out a ticket. I am definitely going to go this weekend. Another good festival that is coming up is the all-you-can-eat Ice Cream Festival at Springs Amphitheater. You will find me there next weekend! Ahhh back to back foodie weekends…bittersweet advantage of being a local?

Last week was my anniversary with my boyfriend. We celebrated by going out to different bars all night. We went to Blue Fire BBQ http://www.bluefirebarbecue.com/ . I highly recommend that you do not go there…it was terrible. We wanted to try it out because we found drink specials online. When we got there, no one else was there, and they did not accept the promotions we found online. Next we went to Big Dog Brewery http://www.bigdogsbrews.com/ . This was much better; we had a beer sampler which was very good, and ate some delicious pulled pork BBQ (we didn’t even want to try the BBQ at the first stop). We ended up leaving with a growler of wheat beer and look forward to going back sometime. After that we went to Sahara Hotel and Casino, since it is part of Las Vegas history and is closing in May. I wanted to ride the roller coaster, but it was closed, so we plan to go back during the day and get a beer tower after riding “Speed: The Ride” http://www.saharavegas.com/nascar/ . From there we went to the Riviera and watched a small band play http://www.rivierahotel.com/entertainment/entertainment.asp .

As a poker assistant, I am having to deal with problems in Panorama Towers. I am not very happy with the whole situation, but hopefully it will all get worked out soon so I can get back to my regular daily tasks.

Unfortunately, this week I am very busy studying for an exam, preparing a group project, and searching for a condo to rent. The house plan has failed, so I need to rent for a year until the bank will give me a mortgage loan. I am looking for a very cheap place to rent in order to save money for next year’s house mission, but also looking for a nice neighborhood hopefully with a community pool. :)

An interesting concept arises between men and women when it comes to bathroom etiquette. Women constantly nag men to put the seat back down after using the toilet. It has been this way probably since toilet seats were invented, and probably won’t change until toilet seats are obsolete. But why is it so important? The female perspective seems to be the fear of falling in because of the expectation of the seat being down already. Also, some argue that it is a hassle to have to put it down after a male use. But, look at it this way: if it is a hassle for the woman to put it down, how is it any less of a hassle for the man to replace it the “proper” position? Also, why would it be the male’s fault that the woman falls in when the seat is up; she should have looked. An argument that never seems to arise is why don’t women put the seat up when they finish? It seems silly in our society, but it is the same exact concept in reverse.

I tend to get along better with men than with women, so the toilet seat topic doesn’t bother me like it does other women like my roommate. This is a good trait for me to have as a poker assistant in Las Vegas, because there are far more male poker players than female. I enjoy the bickering between my boyfriend and my roommate, but really take no part in something so futile.

I have been very busy with school and work over the past few weeks. I just finished a 30-page project concerning the 2010 annual report for Sara Lee. I have also been working on a project dealing with fraud. After this project is finished, I will be basically finished with homework for the semester. I have been searching for houses online; found a couple that look very nice and in good locations for work and my roommate’s school. As a poker assistant, I have been helping clients with daily tasks, as well as working towards getting the business legalized. I am looking forward to the next few weeks; I will be getting a lot of things done and progressing forward to get closer to the start of the WSOP.

Even though I have been sick lately, I have been pushing through it to accomplish some fun tasks. Besides being a Las Vegas poker assistant, I also do random other jobs to make a little extra money to put towards my house savings. I recently started promoting at the House of Blues for the Decades Party on Friday and Saturday nights. It is the ultimate people-watching job, which is one of my favorite things to do. I also babysit on Saturdays. I get to take the kids to the park and wear them out for their mom. It usually works out that I also get worn out and sleep really well after :) . On Saturday night, my friends and I went to see one of my favorite Vegas shows; Steel Panther. It was really exciting because we got to meet with the lead singer and the guitar player. On Sunday, some friends and I went hiking at RedRock Canyon again. I love hiking because it is good exercise and we always find new trails or rocks to climb. Before we left for the hike, I decided to make my friends a big breakfast with homemade french toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon. And after the hike, we were really hungry again, so I made a huge pan of lasagna from scratch. It was a really good day for cooking. I wasn’t feeling very well on Monday, so I went to the university wellness center for some antibiotics for an ear infection. I am feeling much better today and was glad to get back to work. It was a busy day, but now I have to get back to my homework and get a little closer to the end of the semester and my college education.

I think I was the most comfortable I had ever been, sleeping perfectly on my memory-foam bed, when my phone rang just before 9am. Usually I turn my phone off at night due to random wrong-number dials at 6am from the east coast, but I forgot to turn my Droid off last night. So, since I was ripped of my comfort and slumber, I am up and ready for my day, beginning with the gym and getting into some procrastinated homework. I should probably keep my phone on so as to receive calls for Las Vegas Poker Assistant, but since I operate between the hours of 10am and 10pm, I prefer not to get started any earlier.

The weather has not been ideal, but after this weekend it should be back to its beautiful self. Yesterday was the first official day of spring and I can’t wait to see more blooming flowers, and shining sun. :)

I’ve been sick lately, which is never fun, but I finally got back to work and school. I spent four hours today running errands. I got to visit the Wynn casino for the first time today. I don’t usually venture that far north on the Strip, but the Wynn Classic tournament was today, so I got to visit a couple clients there http://www.bluffmagazine.com/tournaments/2011-Wynn-Classic-1536.htm . I felt like a real Las Vegas poker assistant today, searching through the poker tables trying to find the right client. I also got to peak into the Ferrari showcase room, but only a little peak. Today was another one of those days where I felt like poker is a whole other universe. The way poker players deal with money is mind boggling to an accountant like me. Seeing tournaments being played, messy condos with cash everywhere, and cars with iPhones under the seats are just a few of the absurd, yet daily things I view at my job.

I love being able to enjoy the beautiful weather as a Las Vegas poker assistant. I have been driving around with the windows down all week, running errands all around town. I can’t wait to get a dog this summer so I can play outside even more. I think I have decided to look for a large dog from the humane society. I like almost all dogs, so it won’t be difficult finding a new best friend. I would like to train my dog to do tricks, play fetch, and other fun stuff. Hopefully I will find a house that has a nice backyard or a park nearby to play in. My roommate plans to also get a dog, so they will be friends like we are. I would want to also get a cat, but my roommate is allergic, so unfortunately we can’t have one. I love cats and dogs, so hopefully I will be able to find a very friendly and loyal dog.

Spring break so far has been fun. I finished a project on Friday and it looks really good, so I’m excited about that. Some friends and I went to the L.A. Comedy Club at the 4 Queens downtown last night. Usually the comedians are better, but it was still fun to go. After that we went to the arts district and saw this band play: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLHSqohUbH8 . They were very good, and the venue was very interesting. Today I am going to a BBQ at my boyfriend’s house with his family. Back to work tomorrow, but hopefully I will be extremely productive and get some good work done.

The weather has been fantastic here, I hope it’s here to stay. Pool season is right around the corner and I can’t wait. Once school is over too, I will have a lot of time to lay out and work diligently on my tan (although last summer’s tan was very impressive and is going to be hard to beat). My favorite pool is Rxehab at the HRH. It has sand and often has live music which is fun. I also love Tao Beach, but now with Marquee dayclub, it might become my third favorite. I would like to see the dayclub at Encore, Mr. Wynn tends to do a good job with his properties. :)
